Rowett Lands Rams Post

Thirty-year-old Rowett, who spent close on two years at St. Andrews before moving on to Leicester City in July 2000, announced just last week that he was to hang his boots up after failing to recover from a long-term knee injury.

Between 2002 and 2004 the popular defender managed just 13 appearances for his last club Charlton Athletic due to persistant knee problems.

However, the Bromsgrove born player has now been handed the job of Academy Coach at another of his former clubs, Derby County.

Rowett made 120 appearances for The Rams before Blues manager of the time Trevor Francis brought him to St Andrews in a £1million deal in August 1998.

We wish him well in his new role.
