Savage out of Wales game

The Blues midfielder, who sat-out the Premiership clash at Manchester Utd last weekend, has been deemed unfit for the Euro 2004 qualifier on Saturday as he is still suffering with an Achilles injury.

A Wales FA spokesman told the BBC: "We frankly had been expecting this.

"He has not been able to train with us all week and although his injury is a little easier, he would certainly not have been able to play on Saturday."

Savage now faces a race against time to be fit for Blues' next Premiership clash at home to Chelsea next Tuesday.
