Blues midfielder Aliou Cisse played no part in the game following his two bookings in Senegals previous two Group B matches which warranted an automatic one game ban.
Mali opened the scoring when Dramane Traore headed home just after the half-hour but Habib Beye drew Senegal level in first-half stoppage time
The draw meant that Mali finished top of the group and will now face Guineau in the quarter finals.
Cisse is expected to return to the Lions of Teranga squad for their quarter final tie against Group A winners and hosts Tunisia on Saturday.
Should Senegal win that game they go onto the semi-final stages which are to be played on on Wednesday, 11th February.
