Defenders Matthew Upson, Olivier Tebily and Martin Taylor have been ruled out with groin, knee and ankle injuries respectively whilst midfielders David Dunn, Muzzy Izzet and Neil Kilkenny all remain on the sidelines.
Emile Heskey and Damien Johnson are also omitted as they both serve the final game of their respective suspensions.
However, Chris Sutton and Stan Lazaridis are hopeful of making the final 16-man squad for the live television clash at Upton Park.
Bruce's squad is also boosted by the return of defender Martin Latka and striker DJ Campbell who were both missing from the side that beat Reading in the FA Cup 4th Round replay last week.
