Six Subs Ruling Scrapped

Football's governing body had imposed the rule that a side would only be allowed to make a maximum of six substitutes during pre-season friendlies starting this summer.

However, after a meeting between FIFA and the FA, clubs will once again be permitted to make an unlimited number of substitutions in friendlies.

"I am delighted that FIFA have listened to our concerns and clarified the situation," Chief Executive Mark Palios told the FA's official website

"Unrestricted substitutions in pre-season friendlies are in the interests of clubs and players alike, and allow proper preparation for the coming season."
