Recent speculation has linked Blues with a move for the 21-year-old Nottingham Forest player when the transfer window opens on Thursday and Spurs have now joined the chase for the Republic of Ireland international midfielder.
Spurs are reportedly set to lodge a £2.5million bid for the player with performance related payments to be added to that.
Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers and Charlton are also said to be keen on Reid.
