Blues finished higher than the Villa in the Premier League table last season but this season a revitalised David O'Leary squad are just one place and two points behind Blues in the table.
The two could not be seperated in the two Premiership games between the sides this season either - even after we gave them a two-goal start at Villa Park last month!!
"I think that you've got to accept that traditionally Villa is a bigger club - they've got a bigger ground and they get bigger gates than us," the Blues co-owner told Sky Sports News.
"But, the gap has closed, the gap has never been smaller.
"At this moment in time, on the field we're a better club. We were better last season. We're higher than them in the table now. Whether we'll end up higher than them in the table I don't know.
"On the field there's not much difference."
