Blues start the season with a trip to Highbury to face double winners Arsenal and have home games with other title contenders Leeds and Liverpool in their first five fixtures.

Speaking to Sky Sports news he said: "We go to the toughest ground, that of the champions, so it won't be easy but we've got to start somewhere.

"We've got Leeds then we've got Villa at home so we've got some tough games and I think there are no easy games in the Premiership. Arsenal away is one of the toughest but we have to go and try and get a draw or something.

"But it's a 38-game season and we don't judge it by one game. It's good to get a bad one out of the way.

If we can hang on in there until the back end of the season we hope to get out of trouble. We fancy our chances.

"We'd have much preferred a home game just for our fans. We are nearly sold out at Birmingham for every home game this season. On the Arsenal game I would imagine we would sell all the tickets.

"We are very well supported away from home, all the fans will want to come to all of the matches home and away.

"We'll be bringing in more players throughout the summer to strengthen the side and hopefully we'll put on a good show."
