Rovers have accepted Blues' latest undisclosed offer, believed to be £5.5million, allowing Blues to talk personal terms with the former England under-21 skipper.

However, Middlesbrough appear to have tabled an 11th-hour bid to snatch Dunn from under the noses of Blues, so Sullivan wants to tie up the deal with the player within the next day.

"Either the deal is signed and sealed in the next 24 hours or we will be out of it," Sullivan told the Birmingham Post.

"We are not prepared to be used as an insurance policy."
