Summer talks for Carter

The play-off final hero has reportedly been offered an improved deal that would keep him at the club until 2006 but says he will wait until Blues have secured their Premiership status before crossing the i's and dotting the t's on any new deal.

"We are still negotiating over a new contract. I've spoken to the gaffer about it," Carter told the B'ham Evening Mail.

"But with everything going on at the club at the moment, and the situation we are in, the summer is probably the best time to get it sorted.

"Our target is to get over 40 points to 42 or something like that. The way West Ham and Bolton have gone on runs has meant we have to keep on winning.

"We will try to finish as high as we can. A couple more wins should do it for us but the lads want to keep it going once we know we are safe."
