Surprise recall for Clinton

The call-up will come as a major boost to Morrison who must be delighted to have made Brian Kerr's 23-man squad having played little football since dislocating his shoulder in the Premiership clash with West Brom in March. The Blues striker only returned to match action for the first time since that game in the 1-1 draw at Northwich Victoria on Wednesday night.

Kerr is delighted that Morrison is available once more having missed every Ireland match since scoring in the Scotland game in February.

"He played 90 minutes yesterday (Wednesday) for the reserves and will play another game on Saturday and again on Wednesday," Kerr said.

"He's hoping to be in the first team for the start of the season."

The Blues pair will come up against Australian team-mate Stan Lazaridis when the two teams meet at Landsdowne Road on Tuesday, 19th August. Stan was yesterday named in the Socceroos 20-man squad.

Full Squad: Given (Newcastle United), Colgan (Hibernian), Murphy (West Bromwich Albion), O'Shea (Manchester United), Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), Cunningham (Birmingham City), Breen (Sunderland), O'Brien (Newcastle United), Harte (Leeds United), Dunne (Manchester City), Finnan (Liverpool), Carsley (Everton), Healy (Unattached), Holland (Charlton Athletic), Kinsella (Aston Villa), Kilbane (Sunderland), Reid (Blackburn Rovers), Quinn (Sheffield Wednesday), Duff (Chelsea), Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur), Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Morrison (Birmingham City), Connolly (West Ham United).
