Taylor Reaches Half-Century

Last updated : 22 October 2004 By Brian Cartlidge
Taylor has pretty well made the number one shirt at Blues his own since signing, initially on loan, from Fulham in 2003.

Ironically, Taylor's milestone comes against one of his former clubs in The Saints. The 33-year-old Northern Ireland international stopper joined Southampton from his first League club Barnet in 1996 before leaving for Fulham in 1997.

After just under 150 appearances for The Cottagers he signed for Blues on an initial season long loan deal at the beginning of last seasons Premiership campaign and made the move to St Andrew's a permanent one when he signed a contract in March this year.

Taylor was named in the Barclaycard Premiership Team of the Season for 2003-2004 and has become a firm favourite amongst Blues fans.

Lets hope he celebrates his half century by keeping a clean sheet at St Mary's on Sunday afternoon!
