Left-sided defender Traore joined Blues on a 93-day emergency loan deal on Tuesday but McLeish has revealed that he has been assured by the board that he still has fund's available to add a right-sided centre-half and a right-back to his squad during the Football League loan window.
"Djimi wasn't on the radar," the Blues boss told Sky Sports News.
"He was someone that had been put to us before but at the time I didn't think I needed a left-sided player.
"Then there was a very favourable deal to be done and we could get Djimi without it affecting or having any impact on something else that I wanted to do.
"The board were quite happy to do the deal and they assured me that should I want to do something else, like sign a right-back and/or a right-sided centre-back, then the money would still be there to do that."
