The Finland international, who is on a season long loan deal at St. Andrews from Chelsea, has now bagged 14 Premiership goals this season and this has not gone unnotticed with Liverpool, Newcastle and Fulham alerted to the possible availability of Forsssell at the end of the season.

According to Forssell's agent, Vincenzo Morabito, his player needs to be playing for a side who have qulified for Europe. This is however, not yet out of Blues' reach as they sit in seventh place in the Premier League table just three points off Liverpool in Fourth spot and with the Merseysiders yet to visit St. Andrews.

"A loan season at Birmingham was a great decision but it's time to take the big step," Morabito told IS Urheilu.

"Liverpool and Newcastle are very keen on him if Chelsea are willing to sell Mikael.

"But I don't believe that Chelsea would be willing to sell Mikael to one of their rivals like Liverpool or Newcastle. Fulham are also interested.

"Mikael needs to be playing in the Champions League or in the Uefa Cup on a regular basis and he can't do that at Birmingham.

"He has performed miracles for Borussia Monchengladbach and Birmingham so we have a lot of options."

Forssell signed a four year contract at Stamford Bridge prior to his arrival at Blues and manager Steve Bruce has constantly stated that the striker is his number one priority signing come the close season - IF chelsea are willing to part with the marksman.
