Trio unscathed in friendly victory

The defensive trio all played for the full ninety minutes of the game and reported no setbacks after their return to competitive match action after long-term injuries.

All three will now be targetting further match action and a return to full match fitness when Blues reserves take on Blackburn Rovers next week.

"I was pleased to get through it last night, I thought I distributed the ball quite well and my fitness wasn't too bad," said Grainger.

"The main thing, though, was to get the 90 minutes. There's a reserve game against Blackburn Rovers next week and if I come through that, then I'll take things from there.

"I haven't set any targets, I will wait until the gaffer thinks I'm fit enough, then I'm fit enough. Until then I'll just keep ticking along."

Blues won the friendly against the Dr. Martens outfit 4-2 with young striker Craig Fagan grabbing a hat-trick.

Striker Geoff Horsfield was also included in the Blues side as he prepares to sit out his third and final game against Southampton on Saturday through suspension and he scored the first of Blues four goals on nine minutes.

Blues: Neil Barnes; Joey Hutchinson, Martin Grainger, Steve Vickers, Michael Johnson, Tresor Luntala, Jovan Kirovski, Curtis Woodhouse, Darren Carter, Craig Fagan, Geoff Horsfield.
