The Blues centre-back, who has been sidelined with the Achilles injury he sustained in the warm-up before the game against Aston Villa in April, is likely to be named amongst the Blues substitutes for the game against Wolves on Saturday lunchtime having come through two reserve team fixtures in the past fortnight.

"The good news is Matt Upson has declared himself fit and available for selection," Blues boss Steve Bruce has told Sky Sports News.

"That can only be great news for the whole of the club.

"I'm delighted for Matt, who has worked extremely hard to get his fitness level right.

"He had a huge problem with his Achilles, but he is fit and available for selection which is good news."
