Without sounding unkind to Dawson I have to ask - whats wrong with our Darren then Sven?
Some Blues fans - myself included - questioned before the season started whether Purse had what it takes to 'hack-it' in the Premiership, but after a shaky start he is proving that he does have what it takes with some brilliant performances of late.
He struggled a little in his first few games in the top-flight but then who doesn't struggle against teams like Liverpool and Arsenal with strikers of the calibre of Owen and Henry!
Surely a player like Purse who is playing against some of the best players in the world - and playing well at that - warrants inclusion in this training session the England squad are undertaking this week more than a nineteen-year-old plying his trade in the Nationwide First division.
I admit that other centre-backs like Campbell, Ferdinand, Woodgate, Southgate, Ehiogu and the likes are probably ahead of Darren in terms af experience at this level but surely a get-together like this one is an ideal opportunity to have a look at others.
So come-on Sven, get down to St. Andrew's and take a look at Darren - I could say you'll be surprised at the improvement since the last time you saw him - but when was that?
