Benno, who moved to Highfield Road on an initial one month loan deal last week, made his Sky Blues debut against The Royals and he was beaten after only eight minutes - a Les Ferdinand header giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
However, Coventry fought back and secured their first win under new boss Micky Adams thanks to goals from Gary McSheffrey and former Blues striker Stern John.
"I thought Ian Bennett was calm and safe although in truth he didn't have that much to do" Adams said of the Blues keepers debut after the 2-1 win at the Madejski Stadium.
