Winning Start For Bruce

Bruce made his Sheffield Wednesday debut when being introduced from the substitutes bench 54 minutes into their 3-2 League One win against Blackpool at Hillborough.

In the same division Neil Kilkenny was once again on the losing side as Oldham Athletic's poor run of form continued with a 1-0 away defeat at Wrexham, the Blues midfielder was substituted in the dying seconds at The Racecourse Ground. The Latics have now managed just one win in their last eight league games.

A division higher, in The Championship, Blues keeper Ian Bennett returned to the Coventry side having missed last weeks game against Watford through suspension. Bennett, who's initial one month loan deal expires next week, failed to keep a clean sheet however as the Sky Blues drew 1-1 at home to Cardiff City. Former Blues striker Stern John the Coventry scorer.

Meanwhile, another on loan Blues keeper, Colin Doyle played no part in Nottingham Forest's 6-0 defeat at Ipswich. Doyle was on the bench at Portman Road - Thank God!

In League Two, Andrew Barrowman got his first start for Mansfield Town having made his debut from the substitutes bench last weekend. Barrowman failed to find the net however, as The Stags were beaten 3-1 at home by Oxford Utd. The 20-year-old Blues striker was substituted 14 minutes from time at Field Mill.
