Winter In The Middle For Chelsea Clash

Last updated : 15 January 2004 By Brian Cartlidge

Mr Winter has officiated in 12 Premiership games so far this season handing out 23 yellow cards but no reds.

The Cleveland official has not refereed a Blues game so far this season but has been in charge of two Chelsea games. Their home game with the Villa in September and their away fixture at Everton in November in which no Chelsea players were cautioned in either.

Blues fans will remember the last time Mr Winter refereed a Blues game I'm sure! He was the man in charge at St. Mary's last season when a dodgy penalty decision against Southampton helped the Saints on their way to a 2-0 win. Damien Johnson and Clinton Morrison saw yellow that day.
