Blues Vs Fulham Prediction

Last updated : 26 October 2004 By Leigh Whitehouse

Frustrating isn’t it? Blues had the perfect opportunity to claim their first away win of the season, as Saints were without ALL their first choice strikers.

Blues have put together five draws on a row, only scoring four goals in five games, but likewise only letting in four goals – all credit to our back line and of course Maik thanks to them we have managed two clean sheets.

So when analysing the last five games Blues aren’t doing badly defensively – the area of questioning is the offensive areas, the question that lies over every Blues game, home or away this season… "Where are the goals going to come from?"

The positive for Blues so far this season is we have only lost three games, and narrowly it must be said, but to stay in this league we need to score more goals, and pick up maximum points on a regular basis – play football that we know we’re good at, and that is, as we all know defensive – right?

Looking ahead to Wednesday night at St. A’s…

Bruce will want his players to balance their indifferent start to the season by giving us fans a piece of silverware to add to our relatively bare trophy cupboard, so Blues have a great opportunity at home to carry through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

Fulham have also had an indifferent start to the season, and are in a similar position to what we are. Fulham are failing to hit the form that saw them have a good campaign last season. But again, anything can happen in the cup, we all know that. IF the likes of Luis Boa Morte, and Andy Cole can perform to the best of their abilities then we will be in trouble...on their day they will carve Blues apart , so King Kenny and his men need to keep them out of the game, and trapped somewhere in our half ideally!

It is very likely that Tomasz Radzinski will be out for Fulham, the Canadian man tweaked his hamstring against the...yeah the 'V' word and therefore looks very doubtful. Also it looks like Sylvain Legwinski, Ian Pearce and Alain Goma are all out.

Meanwhile for Blues...'Mr Inspirational' (yes, Dunn) looks set to be given the all clear, as does Yorkie - after picking up a slight knock to his ankle against Saints earlier this week. Stanley and Muzzy are on their way back, but both look unlikely to be in the squad for Wednesday.

Wouldn’t it be great to see Blues win something like 4-0, just to brew confidence throughout the side, and the board – but lets not get too over exited, I mean we are playing a quality premiership side…but we can always be optimistic – can’t we?

Mr Coleman is bitterly disappointed in his team over the last few weeks, after being beaten 2-0 by our local rivals…I’m not going to say the ‘name.’ I’m sure Chris will have his lads ready and willing to get stuck in Wednesday, and try to prove their doubters wrong.

Fulham are looking for a win, after hearing Chris Coleman in post match it seems that Fulham are absolutely gagging for one.

I feel Blues have the wrong attitude towards the game at the moment, and this shows through their performances “Oh well, draws will do” this appears to be the attitude – maybe I’m wrong.

Wednesday is going to be really hard. I feel it will be really close, and even. I think Fulham will have the edge throughout a lot of the game, but a little bit of luck/magic will see Blues delighted, and registered for a place in the fourth round.

I'm going to say no more, and keep ones fingers knotted in hope, come on Blues – for us!

New update:
Now with our biggest rivals being knocked out of the Carling Cup by Burnley, we have more of a chance with them out of our way at least!
