Blues Vs Lincoln City Prediction

Last updated : 20 September 2004 By Leigh Whitehouse
Everyone is expecting Blues to cruise this game, and go through comfortably in the Carling Cup. Coca Cola League two side, Lincoln City haven’t had the best of starts to their new 2004/05 campaign, as they sit nineteenth in the league with a rather disappointing nine points – only two points from the dreaded relegation zone.

It will be a nice evening for both clubs, but particularly for the ‘Imps.’ I’m sure they will give all they can to try and score some goals - which lets face it...with Blues being at home will be very difficult for them to accomplish.

I don't think Blues will play their complete first team, but we can expect to see some first team players starting and maybe coming off the bench depending on how the evening is going – in terms of the score and performance.

It will be a perfect opportunity for Bruce, and the St. Andrews crowd to have a look at some of the younger players coming through our system – and it is a great time for these players to perform well to catch the top mans eye.

Just an example of the players Blues will need to keep an eye on is Simon Yeo who has already opened his account in the league cup. Yeo arrived at Sincil Bank with an impressive record in front of goal, having found the net over one hundred times in four seasons with Hyde United in the Unibond League and it took him just two games to open his goal scoring account with the ‘Imps’ following his arrival in the summer of 2002.

It will be an interesting game, but I’m sure Steve Bruce will do all he can this season to get his hand on a piece of silverware, to fill our relatively empty trophy cupboard - therefore a impressive start to the league cup is vital.

It has to be said, I can’t see Blues losing this game, and I think Blues will win comfortably – but we CAN’T take them lightly.

I feel Blues will start their 2004/05 league cup with a successful win (2-0)
