Blues Vs Man United Prediction

Last updated : 12 October 2004 By Leigh Whitehouse
Well a pretty boring two weeks away from premiership action I’d say – well-done England, after a rather good 2-0 home win at Old Trafford last Saturday. We were under no elutions that it was going to be a tough game. Wales can hold their heads high though; going to Old Trafford against one of the greatest teams isn’t easy, so all credit to them.

Looking ahead to Saturday is quite scary in many respects; Blues are picking up points successfully at the moment – the last thing we wanted is to get a team that is also coming into a good run.

Man United have had a rather poor start to the season, but it is debateable that the reason for this was due to injury. Most of their top players are back and able for selection so Sir Alex will have a group of quality internationals to pick from this weekend, as he and his men travel south to Birmingham.

Blues could see the return of Stan and maybe Muzzy (after injury) but Saturday we will be without Clint – after he was a victim of an injury while on international duty with Republic of Ireland last week.

Strikers, where have all our strikers disappeared? A matter of weeks ago we had five quality strikers available, but now we only have two! Thank heavens Dunn is now back with us, and playing extremely well. Yorkie has a couple of goals in him, and will want to perform well against his old club.

Blues are now looking good offensively, with more confidence – possibly because of the return of ‘Mr. Inspirational’, Dunn?

Players Brucie puts out this weekend need to perform to the very best of their ability and play for each other; there is absolutely no need to be scared of Man U. If we go onto that pitch Saturday thinking ‘oh well, if we lose, we’ve lost to a big club’ we will lose. We need to be confident and play as much offensive football as possible; Blues have to players to do this successfully…and that over exaggerated word ‘luck’ would be nice this weekend, along with every game.

With the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Roy Keane (the list goes on) Man United will punish any teams on their day and will take all three point from any one game, Blues need to perform to make sure Man U have an off day – yes, it will be hard, and it is easier said than done but Blues still need to pick up points earlier rather than later, and we have the quality to do this.

If we crack the key defensive part of the game on Saturday then Blues may draw or even win. It’s going to be tough to get something from this game.

Blues are unlucky to get Man U as their run kicks in, but that’s life, we need to just get stuck in Saturday and enjoy the day.

I don’t quite think Blues are ready for the likes of Man U at the moment, therefore this week it hurts me to predict my first lose. I’m going to go with a narrow away win.
