Tyne and Wear official Mark Clattenburg had originally been assigned the game at St Andrew's on Sunday but he now takes charge of the Charlton v Crystal Palace fixture which had originally been assigned to Graham Poll.

Dermot Gallagher has taken charge of 3 Blues fixtures already this season whilst the Banbury based official has taken charge of just the one Gunners game, ironically that being against Blues earlier this season.

The last Blues game that Mr Gallagher took charge of was in the 2-0 away defeat to Manchester United in February. Damien Johnson, Medhi Nafti and Jermaine Pennant were all booked that day.

Prior to the game at Old Trafford, Dermot Gallagher also took charge of the reverse fixture between Arsenal and Blues at Highbury in December. Former Gunner Matthew Upson the only Blues player booked that day.

Dermot Gallagher had also refereed Blues 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace back in October. Matthew Upson again the only Blues player booked during that game.

In total Dermot Gallagher has taken charge of 19 Premier League fixtures this season in which he has handed out 49 yellow cards and 3 reds.

Mr N Bannister and D G Kellett will be Mr Gallaghers assistants for the game at St Andrew's on Sunday afternoon.
