Blues have already had the pleasure of the Wirral-based official refereeing two of their games so far this season whilst Mike Dean has taken charge of just the one West Ham match during this campaign.

The last time Mike Dean took charge of a Blues game was in our 2-0 defeat to Chelsea back on 31st December. No Blues players were booked at Stamford Bridge on that day.

Mike Dean had also been the referee in charge of our 1-0 away defeat to Newcastle Utd back on 5th November 2005. Muzzy Izzet and Stan Lazaridis were both booked at St James Park on that day.

The one West Ham game that Mike Dean has taken charge of this season was back on 9th September 2005 in their 0-0 home draw against Arsenal. Tomas Repka and Teddy Sheringham both picked up cautions on that occasion.

In total Mike Dean has taken charge of 24 English League and Cup games so far this season in which he has handed out 69 yellow cards and 6 reds.

Mr R Burton and Mr D Cann will be Mike Deans assistants for the game at Upton Park on Monday night.
