Steve Bennett Refs Leicester Game

Last updated : 27 September 2006 By Brian Cartlidge

Neither team have had the pleasure of the Orpington-based official taking charge of any of their games so far this season but Steve Bennett did referee four Blues' matches last season.

The last time Steve Bennett refereed a Blues game was in our 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on the final day of the Premier League season. Martin Taylor was the only Blues player booked at The Reebok on that day in May.

Steve Bennett had also refereed our 1-0 home win against Sunderland back on 25th February. No Blues players were booked on that occasion.

He had also taken charge of our 4-1 away defeat to Manchester City back on 17th December 2005. Nico Vaesen was shown a red card at Eastlands on that night whilst Stephen Clemence picked up a yellow card, and he had also been the referee in charge of our 2-2 home draw with Liverpool on 24th September 2005. Neil Kilkenny was sent-off that day whilst Kenny Cunningham and Jamie Clapham received yellow cards.

In total Steve Bennett has taken charge of 9 games so far this season in which he has handed out 20 yellow cards and 4 reds.

Mr J Holbrook and Mr T Massey will be Steve Bennett's assistants for the game at St Andrew's this Saturday afternoon.
