Everton Res 2 - Blues Res 2

Last updated : 01 September 2003 By Brian Cartlidge
Keith Bertchins young side came from behind and then led 2-1 before having to settle for a well deserved point which saw them finish a creditable 9th in the Barclaycard Premiership Reserves League (north) table.

Craig Fagan cancelled out Symes fifteenth minute opener for Everton when he headed home a Cottrell cross from 10 yards out on 23 minutes.

Everton finished the half the stronger and Luke Chadwick wasted two good chances to put the host's in front but Blues held out and went in level at the break.

Blues went ahead with just thirteen minutes of the game remaining when Peter Till diverted a Darren Carter effort from the edge of the box past a stranded Turner in the Everton goal.

However, with just nine minutes remaining, Chadwick levelled matters for the hosts from the penalty spot after a hand-ball in the area by Peter Gilbert.

Remarkably, 11 goals have been scored in the two games between the two sides this season - Blues coming out on top 4-3 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

All-in-all then a reasonable season for the Blues second string who picked up 11 victories from their 28 games played and finished the campaign strongly with 4 of those wins coming in the last 6 games.
