Player Ratings v Blackburn Rovers

Last updated : 09 August 2004 By Richrd Barker

Maik Taylor - Made some decent saves, and overall ok.

Tebily - Typical Tebily performance... tough tackling, no nonsense aggression, and moments of madness.

Clapham - In my honest opinion, really beginning to get shown up at this level - especially with some woeful distribution.

Upson - Generally ok, but anyone hoping to represent their country at Euro 2004 needs to do better than he did for the goal.

Martin Taylor - Shaky at times, but wait until next season before judging - he's hardly been given an oppurtunity to settle into the team or one position this season.

Johnson - Good hard-working display, with a terrible finish and an assist to boot. Others should take a leaf out of his book at times.

Savage & Clemence - Same as last few games - non existent.

Lazaridis - Saw plenty of the ball, but his compatriots Neill and Emerton coped with him well.

Forssell & Morrison - Both quiet, but both had next to no service.

SUBS:

Hughes - Final appearance for the club, and showed signs of running the game, but just lacked the capacity to really impose himself - how fitting? Great servant to the club though.

John - Pretty terrible, to be honest, but once again, he scored a goal, and you can't argue with scoring goals.
