Player Ratings

Taylor
- Some fine moments but some suspect ones too. May well have reached the shot that led to the penalty.

Melchiot - Steady but not as big a threat going forward as in previous games.

Gray - I can't help feeling he's wasted at left back.

Upson - Did ok but gave away more than his usual ammount of free kicks in dangerous positions.

Cunningham - Another steady display.

Johnson - Played alright considering he was made to play in four different positions through-out the game.

Gronkjaer - A good first half but frustrating after the break which led to some unfounded boo's amongst the fans before eventual substitution.

Savage - Quiet after being warned by the referee after just ten minutes or so. Poor dead ball deliveries also.

Clemence - Anonymous throughout. He just doesn't demand the ball enough for me.

Izzet - Definately not the answer to our goalscoring problems. Easy to say after the event but Taylor would probably have reached the goalbound shot he handballed that led to Evertons penalty goal.

Heskey - Tried hard and came extremely close to scoring on the two occasions he received good service.

SUBS:

Anderton - Don't know what he's got to do to be in the starting eleven.

Lazaridis - Made some good forward runs but never really troubled the Everton defence. Was involved in the best move of the game however when Yorke came close in the dying minutes.

Yorke - Gave us a different option after his introduction and could have gained a point but for a poor finish right at the death.
