Everton

Taylor
- Nowhere near as busy as on sunday, but was generally sound - apart from one or two dodgy kicks again.

Tebily - Still has his moments of madness, but you can't question his desire and the record with him in the team speaks for itself.

Upson - Unfamiliar role, and you could tell by his lack of adventure going forward, but defensively fine.

Cunningham - Muscled off the ball a few times early on, but settled to play a magnificent Captain's role.

Purse - Superb performance, notably against Ferguson who he dominated in the aeriel battle, and also on the floor against Rooney.

Johnson - Another fine all-round display, capped with a goal. After one week, the Damien Johnson Finishing Watch can stop.

Lazaridis - Still a threat at this level when he runs at teams - always a threat and a great goal.

Savage - Excellent all-round display, including the usual booking and even two assists. Showed Everton what they're missing.

Hughes - Not as involved as he sometimes is, but kept everything simple, and grew into the game - very good.

Forssell - Perhaps not at his best in general play, but scored and tested Martyn several times.

Morrison - Worked hard, as he has done for a while, and was perhaps unlucky not to score.

SUBS:

Dugarry - Still feeling his way back, some good touches.

John - Worked a little harder, perhaps trying to shrug off the 'lazy' tag.

Taylor - Composed few minutes at right-back.

Subs not used: Bennett, Kenna.
