Player Ratings

Taylor - A mere spectator for most of the night and no chance with the goal.

Melchiot - Defensively sound, offensively impressive.

Clapham - Steady.

Upson
- Surprisingly had little to do but one error could have been costly.

Cunningham - Kept Andy Cole quiet all night.

Gronkjaer
- Superb for 80 minutes but noticibly went a little quiet after Coles 'tackle'.

Clemence - Held the midfield together well.

Anderton
- Certainly looks better when playing in the centre and provided some telling balls through to the front two.

Gray
- Played well again.

Yorke
- Impressive first half but went off the boil after the break.

Heskey
- Tried hard all night but needs a goal to boost his confidence I think.

SUBS:

Lazaridis - Unable to do much in the last 17 minutes nice to see him back all the same.
