Blues Player Ratings

Maik Taylor - Two shots straight at him that he held, and handled crosses well.

Melchiot - Looked solid all-round.

Lazaridis - Troubled early on by Wright-Phillips, but posed a great threat going forward. Injury will be a worry.

Cunningham - Excellent return, and perhaps highlighted how much the team missed him.

Upson - Steady, yet unspectacular performance.

Gronkjaer - Threat died away as the game went on, but due to the side's tactics, rather than his performance I suspect.

Gray - Similar story to Gronkjaer, and not as comfortable with Johnson behind him.

Johnson - Performed alright all over the place, as usual.

Izzet - Good workrate and some good set piece deliveries.

Heskey - Excellent goal but performance understandably became hampered by injury.

Forssell - Still not quite found his feet this season, but will do, I'm sure.

SUBS:
John - Missed good chance and then understandably stuggled as a lone striker.

Clemence - Did a sufficient job but I suspect will only be a squad player this year.

Tebily - Hoofed the ball clear on a few occasions and won some tackles - no doubt exactly what he was meant to do.
