Player Ratings

Taylor - Good save from van Nistelrooy and generally sound handling otherwise.

Melchiot - Good all-round display.

Gray - Excellent both in defence and attack, a top drawer performance.

Upson - Much, much better than recent performances.

Cunningham - Ok generally, but one or two nervy moments.

Gronkjaer - Just not his day, nothing went right.

Dunn - A real threat in the first half, but tired a little in the second.

Johnson - Filled Izzet's boots admirably, if unspectacularly.

Savage - Grew into the game as it progressed.

Yorke - Good solid performance.

Heskey - Gave Ferdinand real problems, and was central to a lot of good work.

SUBS:

Anderton - Worked hard and some nice touches, but unable to influence too much.

Clapham and Tebily - Used in injury time to run down clock.
