Maik Taylor
- No chance with goal, and otherwise sound.

Tebily - Looked in a world of his own in the first-half, but woke up a little in the second.

Upson - Probably his best performance at left-back. Not entirely comfortable, but more than adequate.

Martin Taylor - Very promising debut in many respects.

Cunningham - Uncharacteristic error for Middlesbrough's goal, but otherwise fine.

Johnson - Better than his recent performances, and as hard-working as ever.

Hughes - Comfortable, but still frustrates at times when you know he has more in him.

Clemence - A solid if not spectacular display - did the simple things well.

Savage - His usual self in winding up the opposition and winning the ball, capped off with a fine goal.

Morrison - Worked hard as usual, and will just be desperate for a goal now.

Forssell - Quiet at times, but as ever, came alive in the box.

SUBS:

John, Carter, Kenna - All used just to run down the clock, and probably had two touches between the three of them.

Subs Not Used: Bennett, Purse.
