Player Ratings v Southampton

Last updated : 14 April 2007 By Brian Cartlidge

Doyle - Still makes me a little nervous but overall a decent display.

N'Gotty - Good, solid defensive performance.

Jaidi - Another excellent headed goal and defensively sound.

Martin Taylor - Played well although passing was a bit wayward on occasions.

Kelly - Superb, especially considering his normal position is on the right side of defence.

Johnson - Was playing well before going off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Clemence - Didn't look 100% fit but still played ok.

Muamba - Immense - As I've said before its hard to believe he's still a kid. Never knows when he's beat.

McSheffrey - Still doesn't appear to be firing on all cylinders but some good link up play with the front two.

Cole - A good debut and a great assist for the second goal.

Bendtner - Outstanding again. Seemed to relish playing with Cole.

Subs:

Vine (for Johnston, 22 mins) - Did ok as a makeshift right-sided midfielder!

Nafti (for Clemence, 79 mins) - Sometimes slick, sometimes slack.

Campbell (for Cole, 85 mins) - Battled hard for the short time he was on.

Subs not used: Maik Taylor, Jerome.

*Star Man* - Fabrice Muamba
