Bruce's View: Arsenal

Goals from Walter Pandiani and Emile Heskey earned Blues their first ever Premiership win against The Gunnners at St Andrew's.

"It is always nice to beat Arsenal and a great way to finish off the season," the Blues boss said after the 2-1 win.

"We deserved the win although I didn't think we would get it when Bergkamp equalised.

"It was a great end to the season and it was an international finish by Emile Heskey. I've been saying for ten months that Heskey has been terrific and he has gone on to finish as top goalscorer.

"Walter Pandiani also did terrifically well and I am delighted with his contribution.

"The problem still remains that we have not agreed a fee with Deportivo La Coruna. The President is asking a lot of money at the moment and we will see what develops over the next few weeks.

"The win sums up our season. We have taken more points off the top ten clubs than we have off the bottom ten.

"It is frustrating but the season is summed up with Heskey having no less than eight strike partners.

"The left-hand side of the team has been savaged and it has been a toil.

"To finish where we did is a great achievement and we have no divine right to finish any higher."
