Bruce's View: Charlton

Charlton probably shaded the first half of the game at St Andrew's, although they had only two efforts on goal, but Blues dominated proceedings in the second period.

"We struggled badly in the first half but I could not have asked for anymore from the players in the second half.

"If we play like that for the rest of the season we are going to win more games than we lose.

Blues striker Emile Heskey lasted less than ten minutes of the game after falling awkwardly after a challenge by Addicks defender Chris Perry.

"Losing Heskey was a massive blow and we will not know the extent of his ankle injury for the next 24 to 48 hours," Bruce added.

"But the result is a huge disappointment. When you consider how well we played at home after last Christmas to suffer three successive home defeats is a major concern.

"We have attempted to produce a more cutting edge to our play with the signings I've made but at the present time it is not coming off.

"Charlton were the better team in the first half but I thought we deserved something out of the game with our second half display."
