Bruce's View: Crystal Palace

Blues played some attractive stuff during the first forty-five minutes of the game at St Andrew's and striker Nicklas Bendtner's 23rd minute goal deservedly cancelled out Jobi McNuff's strike that had given the visitors an 11th minute lead.

Blues went on to take maximum points through substitute Seb Larsson's stoppage time winner.

"I thought we were terrific, especially in the first half," Bruce said after the 2-1 win.

"That was possibly as good as we've played for a couple of years."

Despite the result taking Blues to the top of the Championship table with four games played, most of the talk after the game surrounded skipper Damien Johnson's actions following his substitution late on.

Firstly he threw down the captains armband on leaving the pitch and then threw his shirt to the ground as he approached the players tunnel.

Bruce has promised to hold talks with his newly appointed captain this coming week: "Damien was disappointed by the ironic cheers from the fans which greeted his substitution," said the Blues boss.

"'He's been a magnificent servant, showing a hunger, desire and determination, so I'm as disappointed as anyone by his actions, which have taken the gloss off a really good performance.

"The matter will be dealt with."
