Bruce's View: Liverpool

Such was the measure of their 2-0 success that Maik Taylor in the Blues goal did not having a single save to make during the whole ninety minutes against a side with Champions League aspirations.

"That's the best performance we've give since we've been in the Premiership, considering the opposition we played against," Bruce said after the game at St Andrew's.

"We totally dominated possetion and we created more chances. When a team like Liverpool comes and they don't really have a shot at your goal so it's going to be an enjoyable Saturday night."

Bruce was once again impressed with the performances of two of his transfer window signings Walter Pandiani, who bagged his second goal in three games from the penalty spot and Jermaine Pennant whose teasing cross was met on the volley by Julian Gray to give Blues their 2-0 lead.

"Young Jermaine and Walter has given everybody a lift just at the right time," Bruce said.

"Today though they have all played their part and it would be unfair to single out individuals. From one-to-eleven they were terrific.

"When you've played against a team as good as Liverpool and restricted them to not having one chance it just shows what a great performance it was.

"Overall we're very, very pleased and now it looks as if we can start looking upwards rather than keep looking over our shoulders although knowing this club as I do there's bound to be a twist in the tail somewhere!"
