Bruce's View: Man Utd

The two sides went in at the break at 0-0 but United's class showed through in the second half and it was they who progressed to semi final with a 3-1 success.

"I was disappointed but I was pleased with the way we performed in the first half," Bruce said after the game at St Andrew's.

"We played so well that they made a change at half time when they brought on their big name, Rooney.

"It was a terrible start to the second half and the Cup tie was over within four minutes.

"Then you look for people to roll up their sleeves and to be fair to them they did just that.

"We all know the quality in the United team but we stuck at our task.

"In the end we had two young kids who have come through the ranks which is fantastic for us. But at this particular moment you would not want that at this stage of the season.

"They were, however, two bright sparks and a credit to themselves and the club."
