Blues picked up their first ever Premiership point against the managers former employers with a superb performance aganst a side boasting some of the best talent in world football.

"We've only had one victory so far but I can see that over the last month or so we've gradually improved," the Blues boss said after the game."

Blues were up against a United side that finished the game with the likes of Alan Smith, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo but battled admirably to earn a well deserved point.

"We battled hard and gave nothing away. I was very impressed with the way everyone played on the day," the Blues boss added.

"Manchester United are a quality side but we matched them on this occasion and I hope we can now take this form on to our next few games.

"They are big games for us now. If we want to do anything this season we have to beat the teams who, like us, are going to be scrapping at the wrong end of the table."
