Bruce's View: Norwich City

Having taken a fifth minute lead through Jermaine Pennant, Blues allowed the Canaries back into the game just four minutes before half time.

Mikael Forssell then missed a penalty two minutes before the interval and Blues had to wait until the 84th minute when Jiri Jarosik's 25-yard strike put them into the hat for the fourt Round draw.

"We made hard work of winning this game but what a goal from Jarosik," Bruce said after the 2-1 win on Wednesday night.

"I doubt whether we will see a better goal at St. Andrew's this season.

"But I thought the end of the first half summed us up when we gave away a comic goal and then missed a penalty.

"Nothing has been going for us but I hope that Jarosik's goal will be the springboard for another good result against Everton on Saturday.

"You could see everyone was edgy. We had not won any of our previous five home games and it was a little difficult to say the least.

"Mikael Forssell missed a penalty but we all miss penalties. It hasn't quite happened for him yet but the first half was the best I've seen him look this term.

"I've no doubt that he will score goals once he has regained his confidence.

"We are now in the last 16 and we hope that we can now move on and that the injury situation will clear itself up."
