The League Two side took Blues into extra time at St Andrew's before Blues eventually booked their place in Saturdays Carling Cup 3rd Round draw with a 4-1 win.

"It was one of those matches where you create chances and don't take them and allow the opposition to go away and score," the Blues boss said after the match.

"The more chances you miss the more frustrating it becomes.

"But we made a couple of changes and then it was a matter of time before we scored because we could not continue missing in front of goal.

"Thankfully, McSheffrey snatched a couple of goals and he proved that he is going to be a big asset.

"It was a big learning curve but I was happy how the lads kept at their task.

"This is a young Birmingham side that will get better and it has been a pleasure to work with them over the last seven or eight weeks."
