Blues played out a goalless draw against Gerard Houliers side in Sundays Birmingham derby at Villa Park.
"It's a good point, we got something well-deserved and might even have sneaked in a couple of good chances," the Blues boss told Sky Sports News.
"We were very impressive I felt, in terms of passing the ball and organisation.
"I felt, on the day, we definitely deserved at least a point.
Blues next game is against bottom-of-the-table West Ham at St Andrews next weekend and McLeish is expecting a tough encounter against the club now owned by his former employers.
"We've got another difficult one coming up next week," he said. "That's a huge game for both of us.
"Every game is really difficult and to win games in the Premier League is exceptionally tough as well."
