The Blues boss admitted to being more than satisfied with the side's second half performance in which they came back from a 1-0 defecit to secure a 2-1 victory at St Mary's.

"I thought Southampton were the better side in the first half but we were much the better side in the second," McLeish said after the game.

"I wasn't happy with our first half performance and Southampton deserved to go into the break 1-0 up but I am pleased with our performance in the second half.

"We created a lot of chances and I felt we fully deserved our victory and all three points.

"I am really pleased with the way we performed."
